Parks and Recreation Annual Report 2003-2004
Parks and Recreation Programs Booklet 2006
The Southington Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to offering a variety of programs for all ages - youth and adults alike - both in sports and the Arts. The Parks & Rec Office also runs various programs such as open gym, fitness, men's & youth basketball, line dancing, ballroom dancing, safe boating, coed volleyball, arts & crafts, golf clinics, men's & women's softball, summer playground program, youth theater program, swim program, over 50 softball, tennis program, football passing league, not to mention trips both one day and overnight not to mention"Music On the Green" and "Music Off the Green". We are fortunate to have the use of the Southington Schools after hours to hold our programs. Music on the Green begins towards the middle of May and is scheduled every Wednesday evening through to Labor Day and is run by our Concert Coordinator Jerry Limmer. These shows are made available by the generosity of some 15 wonderful sponsors. Mr. Masci & Mr. Limmer make sure this is a Class Act. Along with fabulous musical entertainment, we have a wonderful Classic Car Show run by Butch Morin. On June 7th, we will hold our 6th Annual National Trail's Day in Panthorn Park. This event has proven to be a great family day, with food, inflatable rides, crafts & games, not to mention the exciting wildlife exhibit. A great day to be had by all. Inexpensive and fun - what could be better?! Stuart Estra has worked his magic and made this event unforgettable. Of course, all this would not be available if not for our excellent Parks crew. They work diligently to make our parks and events a success. Mr. Egidio, along with the guys on the Parks Crew (Nick Arena, Joe Drogosek, Gary Mongillo, Richard Farkas, Dave LePreay, Mike Manware, Steve Pompei, Bill Hanson & Eric Perry) work hard behind the scenes to make all this happen.
If you come by the Parks & Rec Office and we're not here, we are either in the schools or at the Parks, so please leave a message on the door and we will contact you as soon as we're back to the office. We try to make every effort to make the Parks & Recreation Dept. efficient.
