The Town of Southington adopted its present form of government, known as "Council Manager Government" in 1966. A nine member council, elected at-large, comprises the Town Council. This nine member council appointed a full-time administrator as the Town Manager. John Weichsel, the current Town Manager, is responsible to the Town Council.
